Parenting
We're just going to take this one day at a time. And that's ok.

Meltdown at the Museum
New environments can cause our brains to go into overdrive trying to decode unfamiliar patterns and expectations. Taking our kids into the community to a familiar place can be challenge in itself. When you add the layer of the unknown it morphs into something overwhelming if you’re not prepared for it.

Prepping for family visits
Getting kids to do chores can feel like climbing Mount Laundry - slow, repetitive, and met with dramatic resistance. The challenge isn’t just getting the tasks done- it’s teaching them life long lessons like responsibility, teamwork, and independence without turning every dusting session into a negotiation. When there is deadline like house visit it adds another layer of stress.

Unexpected Medical Challenges
There is no guarantee as a parent what journey you might take with your child. When you adopt, extra layers of unknowns are added. Sometimes not knowing history, or medical background is ok. When it comes to adopted children’s medical challenges, it can make you feel like you’re attempting a high ropes course in the dark.

Camping Chaos
Doing anything with kids in tow can be chaotic even a preferred activity. Planning and preparing yourself for that plan to go sideways is going to be key.

After School Activities
The after school activities hurdle. Is it worth it? Yes. Is it hard? Also yes…
The Defeat
Somedays the battle is just lost...these days I have to put up the white flag of surrender because it's better than the alternative.

Beginnings
Where our adoption journey started and a little about the beginning of my parenting journey.
